Part One:
Essential Eating and Using Food as Fuel
Chapter Two:
Overriding Fullness Cues: is extinction a possibility?
Chapter Description:
Since vast quantities of food are now readily available for
our pleasure whenever we desire, whether or not we eat is no longer a threat. In
contrast, surviving this obesity epidemic will depend on our ability to control
how much we eat. In addition to discussing the importance of listening to hunger
and fullness cues, this chapter will address the physiology of hunger and fullness.
Helping readers re-calibrate their hunger and fullness signals is a focus of
much of this chapter. Despite having new and improved ways of doing just
about everything, readers are encouraged to remain loyal to the "old fashioned" way of eating.
